It sounds like you should have limited your first date to just getting coffee. Yours don't sound all that bad for what it was though. I used to date guys I met off of the internet so I had a few odd ones. There was one guy I went to the movies with who just mumbled "I get you" over and over again to anything I said. If I asked a question, he'd mumble a response. But otherwise he wouldn't say anything else. I have social phobia so I can relate to not always knowing what to say, but you would think he could at least think of something more to say for at least part of the time. He was actually a really hot guy. I just couldn't tell if he had a personality.

For instance, this relationship. The moodiness, the quirks, the aspects that make you go Aaarrrggh. I can tolerate some weird things, 'cause I'm pretty weird. But I used to get more hugs and cuddles, and he'd ask me to come lay in bed with him while he drifted off to sleep. Just to feel me next to him. But now? Hell, he doesn't seem to want me even taking a nap with him. He seems to tolerate the idea, more than relish it. He'll still cuddle up with me for a while, but his mouth is saying he doesn't want to.

Lately her ex-boyfriend who lives in the states has been calling and e-mailing her and asking her for advice. She talks to me comfortably him and she never hides anything. She happy to hear from him and assured me they are just good friends. She has other guy friends and it doesn't really bother me when they call. I trust her but I think he has something else in mind and wants her back? The way I found this out? Well, she has no internet access at my mother's house. One day before getting off the phone she asked to to clear her mailbox of junk mail. And I guess you can say I found his message while checking her e-mail for her. At the end of one message he says he still loves her. I just want the best for her, myself, and most important our child. She doesn't call him but he calls her. What can you do?

You are adament on the other thread that he loves you, but it doesn't seem like it. He can act loving when he wants, when it pleases him, but it's not his default setting with you, hence the withdrawal, the down times. Those are times he's not up for the act of being into you, those are the times he's expressing his real feelings for you. The clue to this is not that he's downcast when you threaten to leave him (my mother gets downcast when her very good and reliable cleaning lady starts considering other employment); the clue is that altho he knows how much you want him to take you to parties, he won't (altho he will take other women); he appears willing to risk losing you over it.
